Letter from the Editor

Welcome, and thank you for visiting The Gospel for OC.

The internet bears a plethora of mixed messages: some obvious, some subliminal, some good, some bad, some funny, some informative, some smart, some foolish. Amidst it all, we consider one message to be of utmost importance:

The gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is the good news that is centered in Jesus Christ; it is God’s wisdom. Though it is utter folly to the world, it is the power of God to those who are being saved. If you were to scour through Orange County and stop a few Christians at random to ask them, “What is the gospel?”, you would probably get a few different answers. This is not okay.

The gospel is the great news of the person and work of Jesus Christ—his death, burial, resurrection, and glorification. And as it happened through the apostle Paul in the book of Acts, chapters 17-19, we believe God the Holy Spirit can use this great news to save sinners and transform culture (by disrupting the very bedrock on which our culture’s idols stand).

We pray for that day.

Here is my disclaimer: I’ve always maintained a love/hate relationship with blogging. You see, a blog can prove itself as a rad platform for friends and strangers alike to share their stories, ideas, thoughts and encouragement in way that truly profits the blog’s reader community. However, a blog can also serve as a platform that feeds the temptations of pride, narcissistic behavior and self-idolatry in both the blog author and his commenting readers. That said, the reason this blog exists is two-fold:

  1. so that we can write and share in a profitable manner.
  2. so that you can read and share in a profitable manner.

Simple as that. It is my commitment to you that this would be the former type of blog and not the latter. We are hoping to encourage friends, family, strangers, believers, unbelievers, serious-minded inquirers, locals, and others to think seriously, confront the gospel daily, and come to know a God who is holy, good and faithful.

We welcome comments, suggestions, and questions. Feel free to email us: info@thegospelforoc.com

Thank you for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy your stay.
